All we have to do is look around us; look at the trees, grass, flowers, rocks, sky, and anything you can see with your eyes; they just did not appear out of nowhere. They were created by God just like you and I. Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God made the universe, the heavens, planets, stars, solar systems, including earth, and all life on earth. These things just did not appear out of nowhere. God is a creator of all things. Open your Bible and read Genesis 1:1-31.
In the same manner people {humans} regardless of where or how they live always had a feeling of a sense of a higher power that they look up to worship; their way of worship may be different than yours or mine, but it is there. You see, God does a little bit of tugging to pull you to himself. God created man with a free will; we can choose to believe in him or not to believe in him. If we choose to believe in him when we die, we will go to be with him in heaven for all eternity: if we choose not to believe in him, when we die we will spent all eternity in the Lake of Fire separated from God.
God has revealed Himself to us through His Word, the Bible. All throughout the Old Testament He tells us "I am your God, I am your God" In the New Testament Jesus, His Son, (also God) tells us that He is the way, John 14:6 "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me."
You may believe that there is a God; but do you believe in the God? This is where you faith comes into motion; you must have faith in God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us - "But without faith it is impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarded of them that diligenty seek him."
